Dissapointing, January 5, 2010
Overall, this DVD was very dissapointing. It might be useful for complete beginners, but if you have any amount of experience I would not recomend buying this. The only real "lessons" on the DVD are which starting hands you should play (and which you should not), only risking 5% of your bankroll and the basics of calculating pot odds (although it does not really go into detail about the relevance of pot odds). I was expecting far more - tactics of playing positions etc - but most of the time is spent following the fortunes of 4 poker hopefuls as the Fish schools them in online poker. It would have been good to see the Fish's advice during these poker sessions, even if it was the basics of how to play each hand, but you don't get to see this. The 4 recruits keep talking about following the Fish's rules, but other than only playing certain starting hands it is not at all clear what these rules are. The anecdotes from the pros are good to hear, but do not reveal anything particularly new. Overall therefore, a dissapointing watch and definitely will not make you a "poker millionaire"...

Nothing outstanding, even if new its not to useful., March 13, 2009
This DVD is an OK watch, and does have some advice that will be useful to the novice player, however its not overly well presented. The useful information is sporadic and sometimes even contradicts something that was said previously.
The main part of the DVD with the four novices being taught by the devilfish is for most people going to be UTTERLY useless. Honestly I don't know where they got the four people they choose, but they must have just trawled the the tables for teh biggest donks/fish (new/bad players) they could find. Couple of them had months or in one case years of experience, but still had not even learnt basic concepts it seemed, though maybe thats why 95% of online players lose. I guess I can excuse not having learnt how to do pot odds and hand ranking if you've not been playing long, but basic postional sense and hands to play... they were bad.
Amazingly even after being coached and told ONLY to play set starting hands a couple decided this didn't need to apply to them. Add to that one of them that after the show clearly decided that bankroll management (which is one of the MOST important rules for long term smart poker without going broke) didn't apply to him and he managed to lose his whole bankroll of $2,000 in not six month, or weeks, not even hours, but in SIX hands. This is the sign of a real moron. If you take nothing else from this CD learn from this ONE lesson or expect to be signed up with some gamblers annoyamous near you soon.
This said, there is some useful things in the DVD for the novice and intermediate player for sure if you listen to some of the pros tips, though most of the tips are very general and will not really help you unless you research them more. For example bankroll management and how you should apply it, as while devilfish suggests not commiting more than 5% of your stack, this rule should not toally apply to all things. IE Ring games, single table SnG or big Multitable tournaments because of the risk/return factor.
Also there is not really information about starting hands overly other than a little bit and that small amount may well give you the RIGHT impression that starting hand selection is important and most new players play to many hands, but it doesn't really give you to much idea on what those hands are, or more importantly how you may play them differently depending on your postions at the table.
Also, some of the guidelines the novice players seemed strict, though I guess he was just trying to instill some sense into their play, as while only playing premium hands may sound ok, it just plain don't work long term, as any good player sees tight tim only playing premium hands, which is often only about 1-10 hands and just folds unless he is sat on a monster. Heck I sat at a table like this today and I kid you not everytime the table folded round to me on the button or SB (small blind) I raised and got folded too 20 times in a row before I got a reraise off them, and this is not even like some rare issue at tight tables.
So, yes there is stuff to learn from this CD... Will it make you a poker millionaire... not even close on its own, and its not even close to the best source thing on poker I've seen or read.

Useful DVD, January 27, 2009
First of all, I can understand the person who only gave this one star. However I urge him to watch the DVD again and take notice of all the chit-chat as it is within all of this that you can pick up the best tips.
I have given this four stars as I find the overall impression I received from this, and the number of tips I have picked up and will be able to use, immensely useful. Four stars for me is high as I never give five stars, or haven't yet.
I suggest writing all the tips down and then playing on the "play money" tables at first. Then take one tip at a time and use it - thus making the information truly "yours". When you have that under your belt, take the next tip and do the same. After a month of playing you should have most of the tips under your belt and be using them without thinking. Play the video every day for three days, then once a week for three weeks, then once a month for three months.
Then you will find this will be the best tenner you have ever invested in Poker.

Poker made easy for once!, January 1, 2009
Good title, solid information and all explained by the best players in the world. Only critisism was that the luck test wasn't very scientific. Finally understand something about heads-up though! Great value for money.

Sweet DVD!, December 29, 2008
Just won 200 hundred quid at a tourni down the casino and it's down to this sweet christmas present! The rules seem too simple but then you realise that its sticking to them thats the hard part. I caught the last episode on TV and wished that I hadn't missed the series, now I'm really glad I asked for the DVD. I only wish they had more extras, there's only about 40mins.
